The Inception of Moesle Meats

After serving in the Army in WWII, John Moesle, Sr. founded Moesle Meats in 1947 in Chicago, IL. Moesle Meats started as a family-owned business specializing in pork and beef. Their roots trace back to the vibrant Fulton Market.

2017

Moesle Meats Continues Its Journey

The Moesle family transferred ownership of their enterprise to Joel Janecek, marking a pivotal juncture in the company's journey.

Expansion and Diversification

Moesle Meats embarked on a transformative phase, relocating to a larger facility on Millard St in Chicago. This move facilitated the company's evolution into a comprehensive protein provider, encompassing seafood, pork, poultry, beef, and lamb.

2021

Acquisition of Queen Foods by Moesle

In a bid to broaden their presence across the Midwest, Moesle ventured into new horizons by acquiring Queen Foods. The latter, established by David and Jennifer Qin in 1991, had garnered renown as a prime food distributor to Asian restaurants within the Kansas City metro area.

Investment from Shore Capital Partners

Recognizing the boundless potential within these enterprises, Shore Capital Partners seized the opportunity to invest in the platform's expansion, affirming its commitment to fostering growth.

2023

Whetstone Distribution Emerges

Culminating its journey of growth and transformation, the platform company embraced a new identity, Whetstone Distribution, symbolizing their dedication to refining and sharpening their services in the competitive distribution landscape.

2024

Whetstone Acquires Pritzlaff Wholesale Meats

Further expanding its product assortment and presence throughout the Midwest, Pritzlaff Wholesale Meats offers high quality meats to steakhouses and fine dining establishments as well as ready-to-eat smoked and marinated products.
